Pet culture is a large part of American life, and has grown significantly over the last decade. Did you know that over 66% of U.S. households (that’s more than 86 million homes) own a pet, and the numbers keep rising! And you guessed it, dogs and cats are the most popular, but birds, reptiles, rabbits, and even mini pigs have their fans.
Many people treat their pets like family, sometimes, like children. It's common to hear people call themselves a "pet parent" rather than an "owner" because they are our “fur babies” and, for some, they are our “emotional support” friend.
Many hotels, cafes, and even workplaces are pet-friendly. Some apartments advertise themselves specifically as pet-welcoming. Then there is social media fame. Some pets become influencers with millions of followers, product deals, and even appearances on talk shows!
Spoiling our fur babies is our love language. They should be pampered, let them enjoy aromatherapy or massage. They bring us comfort, unconditional love, and joy. Spoiling them is a way for us to give that love back. And let's be honest — it’s also just fun. Dressing your dog in your favorite team's gear, who wouldn’t smile at that?
Do you spoil your pet in any particular way, like with toys, outfits, treats, or special routine?
If you do, then that is your Pet Culture!
